They/Them Travel: Triton Fountain, Piazza Barberini, Rome, Italy
Our family at Piazza Barberini in Rome!

Welcome to the They/Them Travel website. We just got home from Italy! We are excited to share all of the wonderful things, and the snags we hit, as a gender-diverse, neurodiverse, kinda nerdy family traveling the world!

They/Them Travel is about exploring the world through a travel industry that is still largely focused on the white, cisgender, heterosexual, and neurotypical population. So many travel bloggers are young and single, I actually caught myself in a moment of surprise at the number of families touring in Rome (duh!).

They/Them Travel is about doing less in order to create an experience that is a win for our family.

When we aren’t traveling off afar, we hang out at all the fun places right in our own back yard. Our home base is in a small town in Oregon that is dependent on tourism. We are familiar with tourism because we live in it every day. Unlike Rome, if the tourists in Hood River aren’t demanding it, it probably means we locals can’t access it either. In that way, tourism has an additional impact on us every day of the year.
